Nice one. I have just a comment to help : when battery is charged to 5V, it begins to discharge through the Zener. To avoid this, you should add a blocking diode on output and increase the Zener voltage parameter to 6V. So battery could be charged up between 5 and 6 V and never discharged through zener .

To test really, add a voltage source on output that you manually varie between 3 and 6 V to simulate battery in charge.

Good, but a lot of people charge their phone from an normal ac outlet not from an dc 12v. :D
