You have the right idea but only works manually which makes it just a switch circuit. Look at this link to compare. http://everycircuit.com/circuit/6642424191909888

Thx the link, i know this circuit, but i create my version purposely, maybe my label is misleading :)

With an npn transistor the led and current limit resistor are on the collector lead. Your switches would connect to the positive side of supply. See http://everycircuit.com/circuit/6107120020226048. Hope this helps
