UK mains is not 60hz neither is it 240 Volt peak, this is closer to the basic required circuit. http://everycircuit.com/circuit/6091356121595904

The law in the UK currently states that the mains supply voltage must be 230 V +10% / -6%, thereby allowing the European 220 V system to stay at 220 V and the UK to stay at 240 V, yet both appear to be harmonised! 230 Volts - Two Thirty Volts www.twothirtyvolts.org.uk/pdfs/site-info/Explanation_230Volts.pdf 240v is within 10% meh... 60hz is a typo "american book"

Whilst I agree with the 230 Volts bit, 230 Volts RMS (which is what they are talking about) is 325 Volts peak (which is the voltage being selected and shown by EC).. Google RMS vers PEAK.
