I personally have no objections to the way things went. I liked EC on the first try. How ever I noticed that microtransactions drive away some of my peers from buying EC. The argument is that if you buy a software you don't want to have to pay multiple times. Maby you should sell a complete edition or something. Ps: relays + noise injection does not compute.

it's a better system of buying software

you just buy the parts you need when you can afford them. this also means the developer is getting paid directly for ongoing development.

In comparison to other sim software out there, the pricing of EC is very reasonable and i personally am happy to support the developers. No simulation software will be 'real world' perfect. I have worked on computers for more than 20 years now and can only imagine the time and effort that goes into creating EC. Software developers need support and the amount that has been asked for new parts is minimul. The software is in my opinion exceptional and i will continue to give support.

I think that paying $3.00 US for a 555 that I can use over and over and over is outstanding. I agree that paying after the original purchase is different but it does give the developers incentive to go above and beyond. This app has allowed me to fine tune ideas that I have had for years but didn't want to risk the expense of buying the components only to smoke them if the idea wasn't sound.

Thanks guys. This feedback really motivates us to keep going. We got lots of bad reviews after the update from unsatisfied users. Your comments show that this does not reflect general opinion. I would appreciate if you took a few seconds and posted a favorable review on Google Play.

My suggestion, while probably horrendously time consuming and difficult to implement would be to add a Variable Unit. So say I want a voltage source of 3*B Volts and another source somewhere else of 4*B Volts and in the simulation there would be a Variable Knob. This way I could adjust a variable that could have an effect on multiple circuit elements at one time.

Yes I agree. I don't hesitate to pay for things I like and want, especially if they are as well made as EC. I even suggested to the devs that I would pay more to advanced the development. Best wishes. I hope your business will not suffer from this.

Also another idea would be that when you pause the simulation (before you clear it by resetting the time) you could tap (or double-tap, or whatever would work best) on the graph and get options such as changing the scale/units and maybe the ability to slide your finger left or right to look back at an earlier time in the graph.

Don't kid yourself, there are a lot of people whom you've disappointed with your greed. Why don't you take a few seconds to fix op amps and the convergence issues they have so I don't have to waste my time to write another bad review. :| Right now EC is $20 with all the components, add a few more and it will be $30. By the time it will be a fully functional circuit simulator we'll have EC cost $100 or more, right? Let's be frank, for the small work area, convergence problems (and no info about what the problem is), visible numerical oscillations, fixed sampling rate when any AC source is inserted in the circuit, lossy pure LC circuits, dependent on sampling rate and sub-par models, $10 for EC is MORE than enough. First fix these problems and then ask for more $$$.

Igor, I love what you've done here and I use it all the time to save money and time building real world circuits and I didnt mind paying for the extra components. However I would love to see some more room to let the community's genius explode. Also a shift register or some flip flops would be fantastic as well. Much love - Jolly

that's inherent in human behaviour; if people are happy they're silent, but if they're unhappy they'll certainly let you know about. the level of vitriol is also proportionate to the triviality of the matter.

i hope more software adopts this method of paying as you go, it makes more sense than spending $90 up front

@zyan: I have seen people like you on Garry's Mod complain about new features and I never seem to get why really. What is so revolting to justify your fierce anger. Complex software is bound to have some bugs. If you want to do exact measurements you should perhaps go fight with SPICE. And no there is not one software that is as intuitive and still as inexpensive(even with several paid components) as EC.

Also your entitlement to get good things for no money is somewhat moral garbage.

I am absolutley astounded that anyone would comment saying the developers made the upgrades because they are greedy. I paid $10 for the yearly subscription and a further $6 to have the upgraded components on Android. Do you think developers can do all this for nothing. It costs a developer money to release an application. The have to pay Apple to create apps for release. If paying $16 dollars for this software is too much then i dare you to find its equal anywhere else. Its sad times when everyone wants it for nothing and expects the dev team to be pennyless. Shame on you!!!

@tpfokl: No, don't get me wrong, 555 and a buggy relay are not "good things". That's what you don't seem to get. You pay hard earned bucks for nothing. Why would I pay $3 when I can make the timer with 6 components? Why would I pay $3 for just a package? I'd pay $3 for a more complex circuit, like, let's say, a working LT2940. If the devs went and reverse-engineered (which is actual work) a circuit and made a working model, sure, have my $3. @tpfokl: And yes, there is one software that is as intuitive and still as inexpensive (free) as EC: the father of EC, http://www.falstad.com/circuit/

@zeeman2000: I expect the devs to do their jobs. If they did their jobs right and kept their promises do you think that this mess would have happened? 100+ ratings of 1 or 2 stars in a few days actually means that something is very wrong in what they did. As I stated above, I don't give hard earned money for free.

Now my 2cents ..... is it worth the money? Hell yes, I bought the 555 and app for $13, but I've got back from it $300 of learning value, I in 3 hours learnt every aspect of the 555 in the real world I'd have spent more money on real components trying out every 555 combination including the ctrl pin..

Point is, this app is value for money people spend $$$$ on learning and training, this app gives great visual feedback, something lt spice, and a lot of other circuit emu's just don't have...

@zyanwugoogle: i get the fact that you work hard for your money we all do. I could see the point of all the negativity if people had paid hundreds of pounds for EC. A more positive and constructive approach to software is to inform the developers of the faults so they can be improved. There has not been any software that i am aware of that has been written and released that is 100% bug free. Look at Windows 7 from Microsoft , it gets patched every few weeks to take care of known bugs. I dont know how many devs are involved in creating EC but im sure they will work to resolve the issues as best they can. I dont imagine they are a big team but they do deserve support. And www.falstad.com/circuits demonstrates working circuits, it doesnt seem to give the ability to build anything. Please can folks chill out a bit now.

In the end all your bad reviews will acomplish is that the devs will have less resources to fix the problems mentioned. Try to improve instead of complain and blackmail with ratings and reviews.

The reason I'm upset (and what I think a lot of people are bothered by) is that the purchasing of parts was sprung onto us. The majority of apps have a paid version that guarantees a user access to new content and, at $10, it looked like the same applied to EveryCircuit. Every day I see a notification to update EveryCircuit is like Christmas and it was even better when I saw what was added. If the "What's New" section mentioned that these features weren't free, I probably wouldn't have downloaded the update and avoided placing unavailable components in the menu. I don't really need 555s or relays, so I'm not affected by the cost, but I can't help but wonder how much the parts I DO want will cost. I paid as much as Droid Tesla when EveryCircuit has fewer components and a smaller workspace because the description said more components were on the way and I wanted to support their development. I understand that cost predictions change through the course of a project and while $10 may have been enough to develop new parts a year ago, it might not be enough now. AC analysis is worth the cost to me as it expands the functionality of the app, but I think $5 for two components is hefty (especially when the entire app is $10) and am anxious that future parts I am interested in using will be similarly expensive. If there was a way to give us a warning on future prices or make a "premium" app where a one time payment covers all future updates, I think some of the angered users would calm down. I know I would.

I think Aldem is right. People are unhappy about the uncertainty. If EC was $20, $30 or even $40 I would probably buy it. But now I have no idea what it is going to cost me. I bought it last week for $10 (a bargain in my opinion), but now the price just doubled if I want to use all the features. What could it end up costing me for all future features? $100? $200? At those prices, it's no longer worthwhile for me, so I don't know if I should start paying for the extra parts now, or move to something else before EC gets too expensive. There should be a single payment option for all future features so that people have certainty and can choose the licensing model that suits them. But if you decide to do this, then make sure that you honor it, or people will be even unhappier. As many people feel let down at the moment, it wouldn't hurt to offer all existing customers a special offer if they choose this option. People like to feel in control. Let them decide how they would like to pay you. You set the price, and let them decide.

Or buy "packs" 1 off payment for a bundle of 4xxx series or 7xxx etc etc .. I would like to see component design opened up to the public.

I have no problem with the pricing right now but I'd be careful about what this could turn into down the line. I bought this before it was cross-platform (before the community update) for $10, which is frankly too cheap for the value it now offers. But there are plenty of cases of software devs getting carried away with DLC and quadrupling the original price with paid updates. It would take years if it ever happened but it'd be sad to see this app in the same price range as commercial sim software for the complete package. If this was our back payment for all the intense update work since launch then that's fine, but $3-5 as a standard for new features would make this app expensive very quickly.

Some people think the 555 and relay are expensive, but infinite use of 555 and relay for 4 dollar is a deal.right?

And nobody wants to not get better things.
Aldem

@hjroh0315: $5 isn't a lot of money, true, but it's a lot of money relative to the app. We're talking about spending 50% of the app's value for only two components. Compared to what's already included, that's a lot of money.
tpfohl

Maybe you should not show the unowned components and features alongside the owned. It looks like if there were ads in your app, ads for your own product but never the less they are ads. I would sell new components in an extra section of the app so people do not come across them if they do not want them. Many people feel obligated to own every new feature because it looks ugly when they have things in plan sight they cant use. It's much like if steam would force me to have every game they offer in my games list even if i don't own them and are not able to play them. Also I think if someone comes across a circuit in the community and is greeted with "you have to buy this and this" it is a letdown. I would make them viewable but not build able.

I didn't mind paying got the app, I didn't mind paying for the parts. I think it's nice that we don't have to suffer any adds for things we have no interest in. If you don't like the app or the parts then maybe you could develop your own. Then you could fix all of the things you find wrong with this one.

I think that's a needlessly hard edged opinion. Anyone active enough to be commenting here is doing so because the tiny flaws are all that's keeping it from being a perfect app, not because they hate the app. A community voice should still be put forward unless it gets out of hand and people make rude comments and demands of developers (like EC occasionally has in the past). It's no democracy but that doesn't mean reasonable complaints (and praises) should be silenced.

Respectful non-profanity freedom of expression is fine, the inevitability of controversial topics being discussed is a reality which once again is fine if done so respectfully paying particular attention to the adherence of “wholesome” grammar. This app was never developed for electronic elitists who’s sole mission is to attack any user they regard as being electronically inept labelling them as being “dangerous” to aspiring school kids who may breadboard their faulty circuits. These same kids who use Microsoft flight simulators and play Forza Horizon 4, these same kids who’ll kill themselves flying real aircraft and blame Bill Gates or kill themselves driving a real car and blame Playground Games.

Could someone please explain what the secondary graph is about? When you start a simulation, theres the option you can choose, by selecting the icon of an eye with an arrow to the right, that brings up a secondary graph. The icon will then changes to an eye with an arrow pointing up to return to the original readout. But what is this second graph about?? Thanks in advance

Also when WAS the last actual uodate or addition of any components, abilities, etc ? I love this app and im eternally grateful it's still working perfectly for me but is there ever going to be any more new features. If not that is extremely disappointing

I'm new to EC so I'm still getting the hang of things, however, two things come to mind. Facebook has a great system in place for chatting and whatnot. Blocking, Following, etc - keeping in touch with those you are interested in and forever blocking that one Nazi that everyone hates. Second thing regarding the pricing: As far as I know this is the leading simulator for it's platform and price. Unless there is competition, the price can be whatever the developer wants it to be. But I'd ask for Igor to be responsible when deciding what to charge.
