That is a1.5V lamp, adjust the resistor value so that there is1.5V shown on it.

For a "power" lamp, this circuit is unsuited: reducing current with a resistor is wasteful. The higher the current, and the higher the value of the resistor, the bigger the waste.

For a power circuit, one would use a switched regulator, because the two states of "off" (no current) and "on" (only small voltage over the switch) both result in only little power to be wasted. "Waste" here means "heat".

@Bushmills, from the circuit, I would say that Dario is just Learning, and would not be even up to transistorised circuits yet, encourage and educate, don't destroy him.

@BillyT, part of education is letting know that alternatives, which may be preferable in certain situations, exist, and what makes them preferable. Both is what I intended to do, there's no intent to "destroy"
