This is a basic design of an 24v automotive headlight circuit minus the RELAY'S used in some military vehicles. with low beam and high beam and indicator for high beam. Our equipment uses single light units with LEDs inside for low and high beam.

Basic automotive headlights are 35W and 65W at 12VDC with the alternator running them at 14.4VDC, put the led with that resistor in parallel with top bulb, make both bulbs 12V, change 24V supply to 14.4V, disconnect the jumper between both bulbs and make them be on either side of the switch, then you have truly built an automotive headlight circuit :)

Thanks, but I was only showing basic function, and using 24v power source since that is what most heavy automotive uses such as construction equipment and military vehicles.

Well if you want to see a more anatomically correct version I made it just now :)
