This arrangement of logic gates crosses two wires while not letting any wires intersect and is composed of only NOR gates.

There's a use for this, I know it!

Yes. I had the Banks cellular automata in mind when I made this. In it, the only logic gates are NORs, and there are no wire crossers.

Some days, I'm really grateful for the third dimension! ;) This is cool though, it must have taken a bit of working out. It looks good too; formation flying NOR gates!

Nice quiz idea! Where does it come from?

@eekee, actually, it wasn’t that hard to work out. I already knew the XOR version and all I had to do was figure out how to make an XOR out of just NOR gates. The very first thing I tried (and it was just a guess) turned out to be the NOR version of the XOR. @hurz, quiz?

@jason, "quiz" is a question to solved, just for fun. In english its what?

I know what quiz means, I was just wondering what here was the quiz.

@jason9, you are to clever to not understand. Ok. Its possibly better called a "challenge"?

@jason9: Oh right! I think I see it; will have to tinker. @hurz: Yeah, I think "challenge" is the word for this.

I see, XNOR from 4 NOR gates, and the two stages of inversion cancel each other out.

What is the minimal solution for this "challenge" in sense of least number of NOR gates 😋 ?

Can you get any better than ten NOR gates? That’s the best I’ve gotten so far (NOR Gate Only Wire Crossing 2.0).

KV table? I dont know how this is called in english. Let me check that...

Here an excelent explanation in german. You will find something in english...

I don’t think that I can get it to work with a KV diagram. After all, those only support 1 output and that won’t be able to work without wire crossing.

Wire crosssing they dont take into account, but more then one output for sure.

So what’s the point of mentioning it then?

It does give you the minimal no. of gates, if its without wire crossing is up to you to find out. You might be able to extend the rules to avoid crossing. If this is to compilcated for just dont take a look at. But dont be a foulmouth.
