Here is a demonstration on how to filter out ripples for a 100v, 60hz AC to DC supply using a CLC (cap inductor cap) configuration. There is no feedback, so you will get an initial spike (about 116v). That's when you can use a buck converter or feedback loop to regulate the voltage from passing 100v and staying at 100v. This ripple suppression brings the P2P to 50mv. *NOTE* real world will differ.
