Sawtooth gen, plus low voltage sin wave into the op amp which you can step up to what ever you like. So the faster the sawtooth the better detail, and the sin wave will set the output freq.

I'm no expert. I'm actually new to circuit building, but I don't think it's a DC to AC inverter when it has a AC source in the circuit.

Well in a pure sin wave inverter your output to the power transistors would look like this. The way most people are more used to Is modified sin wave.
