A voltage divider under load

An illustration to the loaded voltage divider problem. Unloaded divider successfully lowers the voltage from 5V to 3.33V. When turning on the load switch, we enable a load with resistance of 1 kOhm, which acts like a parallel resistor to the existing 2 kOhm resistor in the divider. This causes the output voltage to drop down to 2V.
