LC-gen simple

Hello! I try to build simple LC-generator and my experiments lead me to strange results. I use the same type of transistors (for example 2N2222) and with one-transistor schema (left) I have got maximum frequency about 100MHz. With the same transistors right schema can reach only about 50MHz.  Is it expectable result? Two trans' slower then one?

I experimented with different coils and capacitors. Coils have from 4 to 12 rounds on 5mm air-core, capacitors - variable - 5-180 pF.

It seems like transistors work one-by-one and those frequency characteristics downshifting twice. Teoretically, they can inject energy into lc - contour on subharmonic frequency, i think... But It requere check
