The switch is where the probes would be. The 200 ohm resistor is not part of the circuit, it's there for testing the range. The potentiometer allows you to set the sensitivity, it will test for continuity from no resistance up to about 250k. I built one of these, it's sensitive enough to light up if you hold a probe in each hand.
