Joule Thief 9V Charger for USB supplies

Boosts 5.5 for my 9V rechargeable. Diode protects the battery (the lamp and resistor in this circuit). Uses an extra transistor for switching, and a standard inductor rather than a transformer. The smoothing capacitor across the load reduces spikes.
