All circuit in EC need a ground otherwise they don't work. You also need to add a power source.

@sujaypaul, how do you know this is what the op wanted? How do you know he didn't want dc instead of ac? Also where you hook up the power supply and ground can completely change the circuit. If you were to put a power supply in series with the capacitor like you suggest it will only flow current until the capacitor is charged, then it will stop. Who knows if that is what he is trying to do.

The last part of my comment with the current stopping when the capacitor is charged is only applicable to a dc circuit.
