need a ground

Doesn't need a ground. Just remove the power supply as it does nothing. Also 535 volts would fry all of this. Then connect a logic train to the up counter. Disconnect all the down counter stuff and all the pins on the left. They don't need to all be wired together. Then disconnect pin d from the reset because it only counts to 8 that way. If you want it to count to 10 then put an and gate in it. Connect the inputs to pins a and d, then the output of the and gate to the reset. Now it will count to 9 and reset. If it counts up one more it would display an A. So just have it count to 9 then reset, it's the same as counting to 10, since it counts from 0-9.
