I'm a physics teacher, and I needed to make a dc transformer to demonstrate dirty dc on an oscillator. And then how a capacitor cleans the DC. So I made the circuit on here so I could test it.

I try to be diplomatic. Please be aware of the outlet voltage 120V is given as RMS value! Everycircuit AC sources are configured as peak voltage which needs to be sqrt(2)=√2=1.414 higher to get the RMS equivalent for a sine wave. So your peak voltage must be 170V. Hope this helps.

You must love having EC as a teaching aid. If I may make a suggestion here: 1) get rid of the green trace (the initial low volts blue will suffice). 2) slide your finger from left to right on the oscilloscope until it shows 50ms on the timescale (so that the two wave patterns are seen better). 3) slide your finger vertically down the scope to separate the two traces. 4) put a switch on the capacitor . Now your presentation will be ready for demonstration at the press of a switch without the students getting bored whilst you fiddle with things.
