How do you add a mosfet

? The values on the configuration don't show up anywhere on any datasheet I have ever seen in the units they show. Length? Width? VTO and KP show on some sources, and I think (big if) I may have found an equation for lambda. But where are the instructions for this thing? This isn't even a proper forum to ask such questions. It is an interesting program and I bought an android license for it in 2012, but find the license apparently no longer works. I came back to try a mosfet circuit but have no damn clue how to add the specs off my hardware and there doesn't seem to be a help/doc/reference link anywhere on the everycircuit website. I'm not going to re-up my license it if I can't figure out how to make the damn software work for my circuits and can't find a scrap of instructions anywhere. Is this thing only designed for nerdy engineer types with access to some kind of secret database of specs and/or unit conversion tables and/or big-ugly equations?

Yes, setting up a MOSFET is not easy if you don't know what to do. @kiani has created a library with models of real MOSFETs: http://everycircuit.com/circuit/5282567524450304 you can note down the parameters of the required MOSFET from the library and enter it into your circuit

The kiani library is pointless because it does not contain the appropriate matching Vov details which are essential. Anyone who thinks that such an incomplete set of details may be used to fully set up an EC mosfet correctly obviously does not know about mosfets. Instead, go straight to a chosen datasheet mosfet and obtain the Vov and its matching Beta. By using your own Vov without knowing how it relates to Beta will guarantee that you do not understand about your seen circuit alteration of Rds(on).

Hurz does not know how to calculate drain current or relate it to beta in mosfets. He therefore will not discuss such technical queries, but instead comes out with insults. ... whilst stalking others to point out how little they know. He is the prime EC hypocrite as well as the most obnoxious cyber bully.

Doesn't contain appropriate Vov details my ass. You barely know what your talking about. All relevant data is in the discription. If you want the full details, go google the datasheet you lazy ass, as if you can understand it. Vov it seems.

Make your own library. We'll test it. Come on. Don't hide behind the internet talk like you're some big shot. Make a library and we'll test it and see how good you are. Can you do better that this library? You say it has flaws, why don't you fix it? Come on. Fix it. Why do you keep talking. I want to see links to your models. Your "better" models. Where are they?!?

@prat ... you have no idea what beta means in a mosfet or its importance in relation to Rds(on). Why do you insult instead of learning about it... you are only declaring your ignorance and stupidity... you also do not know how to calculate drain current for a mosfet. Insults from you will not mask that fact.

@prat ... To understand the capacitor action deeply in that previous link you need calculus, which you do not appear to understand, so you may as well forget that. Back to this mosfet thread: we are at the same situation that we were at in the kiani library discussion... namely, I have no intention of explaining Beta etc to insulting idiots like you, kiani or hurz. You will need to discover such things elsewhere, then you will see how stupid you are in your delusions... eg you were adamant in the kiani library discussion that mosfet datasheets do not contain Vgs detail. I replied to you there showing exactly where Vgs is shown on a datasheet... but still you remain ignorant. It would be amusing to see how you derive Rds(on) in a circuit... I would then point out where you are going wrong ... meanwhile, you prefer to pretend to know how to find that ... poor deluded idiot.

@treii28 ... You can not set up a mosfet in your EC circuit by using just the information shown in a mosfet of the kiani link library. You will further need to acquire the datasheet shown Vov ... so you may as well bypass the kiani library and go straight to the datasheet in the first place. Kiani, hurz and PrathikP do not understand how the Vov and Beta work together to form the datasheet Rds(on) and how that effects your EC setup. They are too arrogant to ask politely and prefer to pretend that they know these things ... but ask them to calculate the drain current etc and they will skirt round telling you.

@hurz ... You think that a kiani library mosfet alone contains enough information to construct a correct datasheet EC setup? ... That shows how ignorant you are.  ... Why don't you ask politely how to calculate drain current and how the Beta and Vov and Rds(on) are related instead of carrying on with pretend knowledge and insults. Be honest ... You do not know how to do these things. Show us your version of that kiani drain current request a while back, then I promise to present it calculated fully as shown by EC outputs when you admit that you are incapable.( http://everycircuit.com/circuit/5031959353622528 ) ... In other words... hurz is incapable of calculating the drain current on that left schematic in the kiani link (given just the 2 resistors, 2 batteries and 2 mosfets with the presented W, L, VTO, KP, lambda)... lol ... lies and bullshit rather than seeing how it is done with EC seen values there as verification! ... I am offering pure straightforward technical here without calculus, but hurz etc are likely to follow now with masses of bull sidetracking to divert.

@crake ... Can you set up an EC mosfet circuit which simulates a datasheet mosfet just by using the kiani library? ... No, you will need to go to the datasheet and obtain the shown Vov if you want it to make sense.... so you may just as well go straight to the datasheet in the first place. Ask yourself this: Do you understand what Beta in a mosfet is about and how it relates to Vov and Rds(on). If you are not comfortable with answering that truly, then it is time you found out, instead of being happy with an inadequate (kiani library) section which does not supply the necessary outcomes ... ie: Are you able to work out the kiani drain current for instance which I have just mentioned above here.... If the answer is no, then you need to realise that the kiani library is not adequate for the necessary required full setup, and you should then be enquiring further, instead of being happy with a misleading subset which does not lead towards an understanding of your circuit's altered Rds(on)... and nor does such acceptance help you to be able to calculate that drain current.... your contentment, if relying just on the kiani library, is misguided. Notice that the three stooges have skirted round their inability in this situation by using insults rather than facing it with polite enquiry.

Do us a favor and pick any single mosfet from kiani's library, look up the datasheet and then produce a model. Put your model side by side with kiani's and show us the difference. If you cannot do that, but instead choose to stand on a mountain top and preach about mosfets then all you have is your claimed credibility. Demonstrate, please.

You accuse me unkindly of preaching instead of accepting that the three stooges are unable to supply the drain current calculation for the mentioned kiani schematic whilst throwing insults. It is you and them who need to learn some respect and enquire politely if you all wish to learn how to do it. I do not need to perform to prove the point... first let's hear an admission from all of you about your inability to do that, then I will outline it all in detail so that you all will be able to do it. Alternatively, let's see any of you do it.

Do any of you four know what a mosfet Beta is, and how it relates to Vov in Ohmic and Saturation regarding Rds(on).... Which of you four are prepared to admit that you don't? .. the rest can supply us with the kiani schematic current example calculations.

Respectful discourse Is sadly lacking here EC and most of the time when insults are thrown around is owing to ignorance and the embarrassing fact that the perpetrators have no idea what they’re talking about. So the question is; when are you going to publish a circuit? Are you afraid that if you publish a circuit, the comments section would be filled with users who disagree with your opinions?

@Tedski, this is another thread and your problem to follow. @2cent says the existing Library is pointless/useless and he knows it all better but he does not demonstrate. You had the problem in reading the thread from beginning. Line 6 was wrong and still wrong after Lenny deleted A-F, which left the second table as BCD while Everycircuit chip can decode 0-F ! Before you open your big mouth you should be able to read and understand a little from digital algebra. Dont tell me the table in line 6 was always corret. It wasn't i know my stuff better then you. Why havn't you seen this mistake? Cause you know even less then Lenny. Lenny can tell you any bullshit and you are going to trust him? It your problem if you think Lenny is your teacher, i just warn you he is a charlatan and does not know anything!
