I fried my solar charge controller (LT3652) when I connected the battery backwards. http://epccs.org/indexes/Board/CC01/ I got stuff on the high side, but perhaps I can do something with the low side... It is a 6V SLA. The NMOS will block the backward battery, but most likely the solar charge controller will turn on (cause it is going to be daytime) and provide current flow through the NMOS protection that will fry it. There is also a shutdown that can be activated by sending current into a NPN ... hmm.... that might just work. The NPN shows the current shunted but that is not how it works, it simply activates the shutdown so the supply turns off.
