When the AC signal coming from the source passes through the diodes it will either go through the bottom or top depending on whether it's polarity is positive or negative. Giving you a DC signal across the resistor.

A transformer with that "configuration" isn't fully useable. It seperates the circuit from earth, but besides that transformers usually protect the circuit by outputting a lower voltage.

I see what you are saying. I was more just satisfied that I configured the rectifier correctly.
