Simple demonstration of two types of connecting a potentiometer. The tap of the left one, is connected directly to the lamp. The tap of the right one, is combined with one end of the potentiometer, and then connected to the lamp. The lamps and potentiometers are identical, and both potentiometers are set at 30%. Still, there's a difference in the output voltage of the tap.
