Here is the solution of my hallway problem. I just woke up mid-night and got the solution. This circuit is a switch in both directions, which can be run by a battery. It can be placed before, or after the load.
I feel really stupid of not getting to this solution earlier...
Edit: I just installed this circuit in my hallway. Works like a charm. I hope it will still work tomorrow...
