The analog winding of the tranforme is controling the current , not the most effective current control also, it has issues with surge, and flux, plus a whole host of emi and, other issues

What kind of joke is this circuit? You can connect LEDs to AC and they will light up with 0.5 times the illumination.

It is important to remember VPeak for 110VAC is 155V, not 110V.

Also, I did this expiriment a while ago. I used 120V(US Mains in my area) and a resistor instead of transformer, aswell as a half wave rectifier consisting of one diode. I found it a waste of a transformer. It worked, my LED lit up at 60Hz.
