From "what if I did this" youtube channel. The idea is to run a load from batteries in series through to batteries in parallel to recharge them, getting both the benefit of the load and the recharge.
The cumulative amps from the series batteries is 1.5A, while voltage is 4.8V. That equals 375mA per battery @ 1.2V each, which is the power each battery in parallel is receiving.
Notes: Ideally batteries should be rechargeable kind. Also, if using larger loads drawing more current make sure the safe discharge rate of the battery is not exceeded.
Notes 2: The significant current draw of the motor as opposed to a small light or led makes this circuit's power loss greater, with the losses in the form of small amounts of heat to charge the parallel batteries and the type of motor itself (not all equal in power efficiency). Presumably adding more parallel batteries would lessen this loss, as current is spread over more receiving batteries.
Notes 3: Although I found this process does recover some energy that otherwise would be lost, this is not 1:1 recycling. The type of load used and it's efficiency does matter, because there will be losses through it.
