The signal on the left is sampled successively by the analogue gates, each level is held by the capacitors and then passed on to the amplifier the output of which gives the direction of slope, positive pulses for rising, negative for falling. The amplitude of the pulses indicates the gradient of the slope. ⚠️WARNING ⚠️ The delay in switching from rising to falling slope at the output is approximately 60us but only approximately 20us for falling to rising slope, capacitor charging delay.
