This circuit demonstrates the operation of a phase-shift oscillator, made with three inverters, built , using n-channel mosfets.  kick start by tapping the NO switch.  in real life small differences in components will ensure self starting.  Each stage lags 90° out of phase with the next one to sustain oscillation.  You can add more stages but there must be an odd number to oscillate.  This circuit will work quite well when built with actual components.  
 
7/26/25 - increased LED resistors to 500 ohms to prevent over current during press of pushbutton to kick start.
