Simple Monostable 555 times When you hit the switch the LED will turn on for secondes Time is given by this simple equation : T =1,1*R*C where T is in secondes, C is in farads and R in Ohms In this exemple : T = 1.1*(0.001*1000) = 1.1 seconde This actually happens because the resistor slows down the charge and decharge of the capacitor so time would increase

Very good circuit- nice job. Here's a tip: your circuit operates very nicely, I like it, but I noticed your RC component is "out of balance" I guess I could say. 1K ohm and 1000uF are too far (in value) away from each other, in my opinion. I adjusted those values to 47K ohm and 47uF, and the output duration was only slightly longer. However, this adjustment greatly reduced the idle current seen at pins 6 & 7. Try it out, and see if you like the results!.. =^)
