Switch pull-up vs pull-down

The counters simulated in EC are triggered by a rising edge (transition from low to high) on the up/down inputs. You can then control whether the rising edge happens when you push the switch or when you release the switch.

Top: pull-up resistor means the input is usually high, goes low when you push the switch. This triggers the counter when you release the switch because that's when the signal goes from low to high.

Bottom: pull-down resistor means the input is usually low, triggering the counter as soon as you press the switch because that's when the input goes from low to high.
