The potentiometer in the left corner simulates a Light Dependent Resistor. (LDR)
When light shines on the LDR, the resistance will drop and the light bulb switches on. But even if the light doesn`t shine anymore on the LDR, the Light bulb stays on. Only while pressing on the push button in the right corner, the light bulb will switch off.
