Why would you need the comparator "the left most opamp", it works well as wein-bridge oscillator with one opamp.

Because the oscillations will slowly decrease using linear components (like these resistors). The comparator gives it a "kick" to keep it oscillating. An LC oscillator requires the same thing to produce a continuous sine wave.
