This simulation model represents a three-phase voltage source inverter (VSI) implemented using sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM). The inverter is supplied by a 1 kV DC link and is designed to generate balanced three-phase AC waveforms suitable for driving an inductive load. The switching strategy is based on SPWM, where three sinusoidal reference signals—phase-shifted by 120 degrees—are compared with a high-frequency triangular carrier to produce the gate signals for the power switches. This allows the inverter to synthesize near-sinusoidal output voltages with controlled fundamental frequency and amplitude. A dedicated dead-time generation circuit is implemented to prevent shoot-through conditions (cross-conduction) within each inverter leg. This ensures safe operation by introducing a short non-overlapping interval between complementary switch transitions. The power stage includes series resistances associated with the MOSFETs, each modeled together with antiparallel diodes. These resistive elements are used to emulate the real on-state resistance and non-ideal behavior of semiconductor devices, improving the realism of conduction losses and voltage drops. On the output side, the inverter feeds three inductive loads, and the resulting phase currents are observable. Due to limitations in the simulation environment, the switching frequency is kept relatively low, which introduces a visible ripple in the current waveforms. Nevertheless, the inductors effectively smooth the current, producing waveforms that closely approximate ideal sinusoidal currents.
