1A 12V to 5V Regulator

This is a designed buck converter for cellphone charger using LM 555 as Pulse Width Modulator.The supply voltage will be ranging from 9V to 16V DC directly from a car battery. the feature of this circuit is the unique feedback loop of the circuit and the transfer of 5V supply for the lm555 from that battery side to load side. This circuit is also capable of variable load from no load to 1 amp full load with almost constant voltage. Hope you like it.

Can the 5.5V output be reduced a bit?

you can adjust the voltage level of the output by changing its frequency. The control voltage at pin 5 adjust the frequency of the timer and thus adjusting the voltage output. i suggest change the resistor at pin 5 to a lower value to obtain 5V but the supply voltage of the timer will decrease to 4.3V and creates an instability of the whole circuit. The initial voltage is is along 4.2 to 4.3V is just enough to initiate the output pin to turn on but as been observe in the initial state the RC oscillation circuit is on standby. hope you like it.

I'm curious about something I don't know what is the positive and negative output and what value does the diode has and what's the code of the PNP Transistor since I was just a child and not an expert I saw this and then right now i want to make it

It needs to be a rectifier diode. And the transistor will defined in the datasheet just choose which is more suitable

I am curious if booster can be used in this to help pushing higher cuerrent say 2.5amp?
