Left 5 volt battery is television remote control. NPN Transistors is replaced with L14F1 npn silicon photodarlingtons (narrow reception angle) (940 nm wavelength) in black tube sleeve so you can aim remote or perhaps laser pointer light at separate photo sensor- at top for OFF or lower sensor for ON. Two 1M ohm adjustable resistors to set sensitivity of each photodarlington. Daylight may turn these on if sensitivity is too high. Both diodes are 1N4148's. Press television remote on/ off button at selected photo sensor.
