Battery Connect Overshoot Prevention

When the battery connects it causes an over shoot that is tripping a voltage sensor. One idea is to slow down the PMOS turn on so that the dv/dt is slower. That is what the 50kOhm is for. This causes the PMOS to run in the active mode while voltage ramps up, and its resistance dampens oscillations. The 20uF is part of a switch-mode buck converter output that the battery initially connects with. I may have my PMOS settings wrong, If someone knows please provide some guidance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_MOSFET#Gate_to_source_capacitance http://www.onsemi.com/pub_link/Collateral/NTD20P06L-D.PDF The broken circuit I am trying to fix is: http://epccs.org/indexes/Board/CC03/
