Using a pre made bridge rectifier for each leg of the Supply shown, diode share load. 
The inline resistance controls current from the transformer & the filter capacitor to the diode string, approximately 5 meters long.
This project used a standard heating system transformer & pre built bridge rectifier on a heat sink mounted to the sides of the transformer too save space and increase sinking of the diode bridge. Combined half wave output to make a larger current output @ 12 volts with a simple regulator too balance voltage.
