XOR gate creates the S (sum) bit, the AND gate creates the C (carry) bit. Use two of these to make a full adder, with an OR gate to calculate the final carry bit from the intermediate carry bits. Inputs are Cin, X and Y. Outputs are S and Cout (sum of inputs).
