OK, maybe start over. In not trying to down you but to fix this would be hard to explain, Start with the 555. You have a oscillator but you need to supply it with more voltage, like 9 volts. Second use a higher value cap with the 555 to show it down. Now use the counter, decoder, and 7 segment display connected just the way they come. Don't add resistors. Now connect the output of the 555 to the input of the counter, if you want to add a push button you can. I'll post the circuit I'm talking about for you to look at.
