Please, how can I build a low DC voltage to high DC voltage convertor out of NPN bipolar transistor, a few diodes, voltage source and resistor with no use of transformer? Thanks!

Are inductors, capacitors, and ICs (like the 555 timer) available? Or are there only NPN transistors, diodes, resistors, and one voltage source available?
