This is my favorite current sink. Fun fact: You can switch it off and on by connecting the top of your 1k to a digital output.

@GingerKing limiting the current like this you can use a simple transistor and a digital output to control the circuit (the load) in my case the LED's

Sure, i guess my point is that you get roughly the same current with 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V, and 5V logic.
