Because you don't have a load?

It's because it's shorted. There needs to be some sort of load between your output and ground. A resistor, a bulb, something.

Put a load in between one of your grounds and the diodes.

Hello. I'm trying to build a simple circuit with a 9v battery and an led. The led is a 2.6v led. How would you connect that?
