There doesn't seem to have any charge, yet there's current. Is that even possible?

I'm pretty sure it's not possible in the real world. My guess would be it's a combination of simulating ideal components 0 capacitor leakage, internal resistances and 0 resistance wires) combined with EC handleing noise as a voltage, meaning there's significant energy with huge capacitors.
