Within your design, 4 1k resistors can be reduced to a single 1k resistor. Only one zener diode is necessary. As for a circuit to drive an LED from line voltage, using a single current limiting resistor works just fine. No rectification nor filtering is necessary. However, you may wish to use an MOV across the power source just to limit voltage spikes.

Each resistor is 1 watts, so it requires 4 1k ohm. What's a MOV?

It's more safe to put in 3 zeners
