Effect of diodes used in parellel connection

This is useful while connecting solar panels in parallel ,if one of  panel is gets in a shade ,then the current is does not dropped by panel,also it improves output.

I get that they provide a current "check valve", but wont a diode present a voltage drop across it?

Use n channel mosfet to avoid voltage drop or a schotky diode should do the trick
