A basic 555 astable timer circuit. The second resistor between the discharge pin and the threshold pin has a diode wired in parallel with a switch to disconnect the diode. Keeping the diode in the circuit allows for the high state to be on less time than the low state. Play with the two resistors and the capacitor to see how they affect the cycle of the timer.
