I totally get this idea &I really like the concept. Sounds like something I would make. However... Something isn't right. I am getting a "can't find solution/ or it just doesn't do anything. I messed around a little but the answer did not come up. Good luck. I want to see it work!

I think there is needed, feedback on the second opamp.

Also the resistor on the top end of the pot is too big. Try something under 5 or 10k or maybe even 1k.

Well i got it working. The first op amp is just being used as a buffer. I use a igbt and not a little bjt but the circuit looks about the same. Ebay has the display with voltage and amps as well as the shunt just some quick calculation and your set.
