I found one of my old textbooks when I built this circuit before on breadboard would not work but in the simulation it does. ??

Of course, there are a lot of whoops that can happen when building a circuit on a breadboard (speaking from personal experience). But here's a thought... I found that any circuit requiring a split power supply can be extra challenging to power up right.
