Switch power off and LED turns off and lamp comes on, switch back on and LED goes on and lamp goes off................see if you can work out how.....?

Nice circuit, easy to see how it works, one suggestion, when on mains, the battery is having about 24mA pumped into it, unless its a 24 - 28 Ah battery it's going to get cooked. The solution to this is to put an isolating diode between the battery and the lamp. Then if it's a lower rated rechargeable battery put a resistor across the diode that will allow a battery maintaining charge current of about 1mA per amp hour.
