Is it necessary for x2 rectefecation is there a benefit or is a single fullwave the same?

From what I know there does not seem to be a benefit from 2x rectification as your circuits output voltage was just the combined voltages from both full wave rectifiers. In which case if a higher output voltage is required, then adjusting the turns ratio and the filter cap achieves that result.
