Yep, that does the trick! And I know you're just playing around- I think it's great that you're actively experimenting and greater still your experiment works! But I want to reinforce to those who don't know-- this is probably the least best way to get lights blinking lol! A real relay would be short-lived in this implementation. Now, StaticShock- get back to work!!.. X^P X^)

Lol.. thanks. Im trying. Spend my downtime at work playing with this and reading online. Spend my downtime at home reading a few books i picked up. One of the best things I have read was in a Make: Electronics book. Is said burn things out, destroy things, its how we learn

I throw things together on my breadboard daily, but Ive only actually made 2 permanent things and they were basically soldering practice. I threw together a project box with a button for the little woman. When she presses the button 8 - 7 segment displays say "I love you" .. i also threw together a launch button for my daughter for model rocket launching. She brought home her group rocket from science class when they were done and said she needed a launcher. I think it came out good. My soldering between the first project and second greatly improved.

I guess technically i made a 3rd project, but it was a kit.. tv-b-gone.. more soldering practice, and the kids think its the best thing ever

I may have seen that book before- does it have a section that tells you to pull a relay apart? So you can see what's going on. I think it's a pretty good approach, provided you've got the money to spend on components you intend to destroy! My advice: learn as much, as quickly as you can lol! Record as much data as you can think of to record, and write it down..

Yes it does recommend tearing things apart. not necessary as they do a very good job explaining what you would be seeing. It does a better job explaining than my previous books. It is less textbook explanations and more experimental
