If triggered the output turns on for a certain amount of time, how long is controlled with the resistor and cap at the top and then turns off until the button is pressed again. To make very short output signal lengths possible, only a short pulse of the input signal is let through (that's what the cap at the bottom is for).
I tested it with a NE555.
