Difference between ACnDC

*Solved by a fellow EC user. I forgot to flatten the curve by putting a capacitor after the rectifier. Thanks much! **************************** DC circuit works fine. AC circuit no bueno. Top Left button is Set. Top Right button is Reset. Use the 2PST to switch between AC rectified and DC. Why won't the circuit behave the same on both? When in AC mode, Q from the 555 won't turn off.

The A/C supply, even after being rectified is not providing flat D/C, it is pulsed D/C. In RL, for this circuit I would use an LM7812 and its supporting components, but that’s not available on EC, so doing it with the least number of added components. Put a 2200 uf cap after the bridge rectifier and set the transformer turns ratio to 7.6 to 1 to lower the loaded voltage to 12v with a ripple of 376mV. Here it is modified. https://everycircuit.com/circuit/5281955767386112

Oh yes. I forgot about capacitors after the rectifier as I had seen done on a fireplace pcb. Many thanks!
